“In wine there is truth”
….In marketing there is bullshit, when the two converge bad things happen. Wine is a divided force with many opinions both in production and in critique of those productions, so where does the truth lie? Truth in wine will always settle within the drinker, and once that truth is recognized, embraced, and cultivated passion can thrive. From the novice to the expert, this exists with in all of us; once that cork is pulled and a glass poured the potential is there, we must just take the time to nurture it should we desire too.
Passion on occasion can always be a “bad thing” as passion by definition is in this regard, a showing of boundless enthusiasm. Boundless… without limits, no bounds, an idea that passion for wine knows no limits, no restraints; to me a thought that no other outside influence can affect my passion, your passion or anyone else’s…but at the same time those enthusiasms are a driving force for us to share our opinions with others and to properly argue a case for individual beliefs. In a subjective world such as wine this can get heated at times, as more “passion” seems to exist in the land of grape juice and fermentation than other industry I have encountered. As refreshing as it is to see a plethora of viewpoints on the particular subject, there is still a backbone of fact that is contained in every grape, in every bottle, and on every tongue… Sorting through the bullshit to find the truth is never fun, never easy, and honestly down right confusing as it relates to wine.
